Waterfront Dining, Deerfield Beach FL

OCEANS 234

Those who know this beautiful “beachy” town on the water, will know it as a laid back piece of paradise. Overlooking the ocean, one can find a number of waterfront restaurants. However, while they all serve up an array of tropical beverages, one spot stands out when it comes to dining on the fruits of the ocean.

Oceans 234, offers al fresco dining on a sensual and swanky waterfront porch, with a menu that boasts some of the best fish, sushi and cocktails around. Kick off your evening with the restaurant’s famous (and totally unique) Moet Mojito with muddled strawberries and mint. If you’re more of a martini person, the Peach Lychee Martini of Stoli Peachik Vodka, Fresh Lemon and Fresh Lychee Puree goes down very smoothly.

Appetizer wise, you can’t go wrong the Jumbo-Lump Crabcake, served over Baby Arugula & a Roasted Cherry Tomato Salad, with a Grainy Mustard Creole Sauce. Get stuck into the restaurant’s explosive Volcano Roll, made with Conch, Masago, Crab, Avocado, Cucumber, Baked Seafood Dynamite and Eel Sauce. On the lighter side, the delectable Kampachi Sashimi is also worth a try, made with fresh Hawaiian Yellowtail, Red Onion, Tomato, Avocado & Lime Juice. However, the most memorable on this menu is also the simplest; the Ocean’s Rapture Roll (Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Avocado, Scallion, Asparagus, Shiso, Masago, Rolled in Soy Paper) combines fresh, healthy AND delicious all in one mouthful. Still hungry? Oceans234 boasts a Pistachio Mahi Mahi with Sweet Potato Mash, Seasonal Vegetables & Vanilla Rum Butter, that melts in your mouth.

An evening at this restaurant, turned interior disco/bar (on the weekends) would not be complete without desert. However, for a unique spin, try sipping your chocolate in an Almond Delight (Stoli Vanil Vodka, Bacardi Rock Coconut Rum, Trader Vic’s
Chocolate Liqueur served in a Martini Glass with a Chocolate Rim) or a Mint Chocolate Martini (360 Double Chocolate Vodka, Green Crème de Menthe
and Cream) served up with a Chocolate Swirl.

One thing is for sure…You don’t need to be a mermaid to dive into Oceans 234 and enjoy the flavors of the sea!

CAFE MED

If you have ever had real real italian food (i.e. from Italy) than you will know it tastes completely different to American-Italian cuisine. While good old NYC cheesy pizza has its day in all our lives, authentic Italian lives on an entirely different plane.

Chef Tulio of Cafe Med, Deerfield Beach, combines the flavors of Sicily, Rome and other Italian regions, with the abundance of local seafood, to create menu that transports the tastebuds to the Mediterranean.

Start your evening with a glass of vino, chosen from the restaurant’s eclectic wine list, whilst savoring the flavor of the fresh warm bread and tapenade selection (including an olive and artichoke selection) offered uniquely at Cafe Med.

Appetizers range from traditional dishes like Pasta Fagioli to Calamari and Clams Vongole; all created using local fish and authentic ingredients. Dine al fresco under heaters, overlooking the ocean, or inside the warm atmospheric interior of Cafe Med. Amidst the smell of fresh cooking and natural ambience, get lost in the music of soothing live guitar and vocals that the restaurant also offers guests.

When it comes time to choose a main dish, the pasta and pizza are not worth passing up; from melt in your mouth Veal Ravioli Massaia (homemade ravioli filled with veal, in a marsala demi-glaze sauce) to the Orricchetti Pugliese (sautéed with flavorful italian sausage and broccoli rabe) as well as more traditional dishes such as Spagetti Vongole, your taste buds won’t be disappointed.

Seal the deal with a fresh expresso or a limoncello, and you have taken a trip to the Mediterranean for more than reasonable price. Cafe Med stays true to it’s Italian roots and provides a sensational dining experience.
