The Delano is by far one of the most iconic spots in South Beach, but what many may not know is the abundance of deliciousness that Leynia, their Argentinean Grill, cooks up. Lead by Chef Jose Icardi, the cuisine is inspired by flavors from Japan, melding the rustic allure of open flame cooking with the iconic, modern setting of the hotel.
The garden-front atmosphere combines the romance of A Midsummer Nights Dream with modern day elegance, boasting theatrical touches like tableside food and drink presentations served from roaming Bicicletas. I recommend to start the evening off with an Anana Al Asador (made with mezcal, smoked pineapple, lime and habanero) while you dig into dishes like their Tuna Pizza (with anchovy aoli and truffle essence,) Grilled Octopus (with harissa aoli and smoked paprika) or any choice of their sensational Empanadas. Pair the latter with fresh highlights like the Chopped Salad (with grilled vegetables and lemon vinaigrette,) before moving onto the main event of Leynia – the grilled dishes. Fresh from their outdoor grill, choose from their juicy Shortribs (served with salsa criolla) or Grilled Chicken (in romesco sauce,) amongst seafood favorites like their melt-in-your-mouth Seabass (in miso marinade.) In terms of desert, the Leynia Bignettes are not to pass up (stuffed with vanilla cream, coated in cocoa powder, and served with zacapa rum caramel sauce.)
The Leynia is a truly mouth watering experience, set in a theatrical and enchanting setting, that does not disappoint.
Now should you want to venture out further post dinner, and I highly recommend you do, also located in the hotel is Doheny Room; a stylish, sexy and sleek social hotspot with an anti-club/pro social vibe that attracts the more cultured crowd. Unlike many Miami midnight joints, this stylish and refreshing lounge evokes a ‘back in the day’ feel with old school disco, classic hip hop and rock. Comparable to the reputable Rose Bar of NYC, Doheny Room brings all the flavor of Miami without the unwanted craziness. At this lounge you can socialize, frolic and dance with other engaging evening revelers, without being at a standard Miami ‘club.’ Doheny Room breath of fresh air for the night owls who want to have some classified fun and frenzy in a truly atmospheric environment.
