Christmas Time In NYC

Christmas Time In NYC

It’s known as the city that never sleeps, as well as the hub of Christmas magic this time of year… New York! Between glittering lights, snow flurries, endless shows and shops, this city is the place to be during the holiday season. Yet, with so many choices, how does a visitor to the city know what’s worth scheduling in? Try the below to get a bite of everything in The Big Apple.

  1. Bryant Park Winter Village – This glittering winter wonderland of pop-up shops is set within one of the most infamous parks in NYC over the holiday season (October 29, 2016 – January 2, 2017) and features a FREE ice rink right in the centre, enhanced by a giant lit up tree. Skates are available for rental, so you can dance your way across the ice, before grabbing some hot apple cider from a nearby stall. When you’re done strutting your stuff on the rink, the village itself provides a marketplace of local artisan Christmas shopping, along with food and fun for all.
  2. The Christmas Spectacular (starring The Rockettes)  – are without a doubt the iconic mark of Christmas in NYC. Prepare to be amazed, entertained, and filled with holiday cheer, as this show pulls out all the stops! Performed in the infamous Radio City Hall, watch the Rockettes join Santa on a journey through Manhattan to the North Pole. As a show for ALL ages, the 3-D and 4-D elements of this, alongside 5* dancing and singing, provide an unforgettable experience. Visit Travelzoo.com for deals on tickets through Jan 2nd.
  3. Department Store Windows of Manhattan – Whether you go past Macys, Lord and Taylor, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales or Barneys, you are going to find windows brought to life with giant glittering animation, moving holiday scenes, interactive elements and more. This year, Macy’s adds a pinball machine you can play from outside the window, while Saks Fifth Avenue has gone all out, with moving glittering mannequins that tell the story of The Nutcracker. It’s worth taking an afternoon just to window shop!
